Why Do Leaves Change Color in the Fall?

-  When the days get shorter, there is not enough light to keep up the process of photosynthesis. When that process stops, plants do not make new food, but live off the food that has been stored during the summer. Once the chlorophyll is gone from the leaves, the green color disappears and the other colors begin to show.
